“Objet a” by Ann Oren in official competition at Locarno!

-

We are delighted to announce that “Objet a”, the new feature film by Ann Oren, has been selected for the Concorso Internazionale (official competition) of the 79th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, taking place from August 5 to 15, 2026. The film will have its world premiere there.

After “Piaffe”, selected in international competition at Locarno in 2022, Ann Oren returns to the Piazza Grande with an equally singular second feature.

“Objet a” follows Ingeborg and Adam, two hand surgeons united by everything — including a very particular relationship to control and desire. When an accident forces Ingeborg to slow down, a mysterious woman, Gaia, helps her get back on her feet. As Ingeborg develops new obsessions, Adam sets out in search of his own object of desire.

The film, starring Aenne Schwarz, Louis Hofmann and Simone Bucio, is produced by Schuldenberg Films (Germany), Tarantula (Luxembourg) and asterisk* (Greece).

This selection in official competition confirms Ann Oren’s place among the most distinctive voices in European auteur cinema today. Join us in Locarno this summer, on Tuesday, August 11, for the film’s premiere!
